Hello, this is Debbie Allen, owner of WebDeb.Com, on the threat of The Outbreak and how you can prepare yourself.

Can You Hear the Ticking?
by Jim Lynn

Our world, it seems, is sitting on a biological time bomb that modern medicine is ill equipped to deal with. Almost every week we read of disease outbreaks occurring that, if not arrested, can cause catastrophic loss of life. In my opinion, it is only a matter of time before one of these outbreaks gets loose and finds its way into the global population.

Right now the governments of England, France, and Germany are fighting to stop the spread of foot and mouth disease. http://www.guardian.co.uk/food/. An all out effort is underway to isolate, kill and burn contaminated herds. While the threat of passing foot and mouth disease to humans is rare, it does happen. The point here is that disease outbreaks in cattle can be sudden and rampant. That in itself is enough to cause alarm with meat consumers. They wonder, "How do I know the meat I eat is not contaminated with disease?" The answer is that no one can know with certainty.

Another Ebola haemorrhagic fever outbreak was reported in Uganda just a few weeks ago. So far, this dreaded killer has yet to find its way to American shores, but for how long? Common sense dictates this disease, transmitted through body fluids, will one day make U.S. headlines.

Influenza pandemics remain a constant threat worldwide, inspite of years of research spent in attempts to eradicate it. Our generation is young enough not to remember the 1918 influenza pandemic that killed an estimated 25 million people. We live our lives in trust that our government will protect us from these and many other lethal forms of disease, just as people did in 1918. But our government openly acknowledges it is helpless against such outbreaks. Even without pandemics, influenza kills an estimated 20,000 people in the U.S. annually. Imagine how life would change in a full blown pandemic. You can monitor flu outbreaks state-by-state at: http://intelihealth.com. Scan down and click the Flu-O-Meter link.

The bottom line is that hundreds of millions of people are destined to die whenever one of these biological ticking bomb stops ticking and explodes.

I am not a scientist or medical doctor. But I read and study. What I have learned is that when a person's immune system is strong, when it has not been compromised, that person will not succumb to viral or bacterial outbreaks. Their body's defenses beat the bug before it has a chance to overpower their body.

Why did only 500,000 people die ...

Why did only 500,000 people die in the U.S. in the 1918 flu pandemic? What kept the virus from killing off the entire population? The answer is that the virus could only kill those people whose immune system had been compromised by their lifestyle. And it did! The virus disappeared only after killing off the weak.

According to Dr. Robert Webster, a virologist at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the next influenza pandemic will kill an estimated 250 to 300 million people. This number represents those people whose health is impaired enough not to withstand the potency of any new strain of virus that may explode on the scene. Dr. Webster believes the 1918 outbreak was a babe in the woods, compared to what has been dubbed the "doomsday flu" he and his fellows are waiting for. He also believes it is imminent.

It seems to me if we want to be prepared to live long lives free of pain and suffering, we need to pay more attention to what we feed our body in order to strengthen our body's natural defenses. Eating foods laced with pesticides and herbicides; drinking water with the trace elements of the same, and eating foods which are so highly processed they lack basic nutrition are just a few examples of how we set ourselves up for disasters.

What is more alarming is that we know these things, yet continue to live our lives as though none of this matters. Younger people feel immortal and older people are too set in their ways to change. And so the beat goes on.

In the end, we can only point blame at ourselves when beset with chronic illness, or when we fall victim to some biological disaster.

"The next influenza pandemic will kill an estimated 250 to 300 million people."

Those who have ears and will listen know they must change their lives. In many cases, this involves taking drastic steps to insure the food and water we consume is not only nourishing but safe. Everything we put into our mouths must be suspect and judged to be safe before assuming so.

For instance, drug residue has recently been found in New Mexico rivers. Further studies have uncovered caffeine and residues from anti-depressants and painkillers in samples taken in and around the state. This water finds its way to residential drinking water taps. We must learn to ask. What good can come from drinking such water?

Drugs can enter into rivers in several ways: Excretions from people who take prescription drugs and don't absorb all of it, ends up in the sewage system; Unused medicines flushed down the toilet; Drugs given to livestock may also be excreted and then washed into rivers by runoff.

My point is simply this. If we want to stay healthy, we need to take pro-active steps to insure our health. Obviously, drinking water from a water tap without safeguard can disrupt our body's natural defense system.

What other steps can we take to safeguard our body's natural defense system? Well for starters, we need to re-organize our dietary food intake. This will mean spending more money at the grocery store. Look for whole, unprocessed foods. Unlike processed foods, whole foods have nutrition your body requires. Look for certified organic labelled foods. Organic foods are free of pesticides and herbicides, better tasting and have greater amounts of nutrition per serving.

How many soft drinks do you drink a day? Per week? Every time you turn up a can of soda and drink it, you disrupt your body's ability to assimilate food and compromise your immune system.

Death does not honor ignorance. Those of us who continue to live our lives without knowledge of these things, or refuse to change our lifestyles to accommodate our health will suffer the worst when the time comes.

PHARMACEUTICAL dispensed drugs are toxic failures not fit for human consumption. According to JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association), Prescribed drug-caused deaths rank 4th on the list of causes of death. 1994 statistics show 106,000 people died from unintended drug side-effects. This would be considered criminal by any other civilized standard.

Dr. Julian Whitaker, M.D., Medical Editor for "Health and Healing," estimates 18 million more people have survived toxic side effects from these same drugs prescribed by their doctors...Over 2 million of them were bad enough to be hospitalized in 1994 alone. Chemical Drugs and the so-called "health" system that promotes using them are part of the problem, not the solution.

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for your own health, not the AMA, FDA or your physician. If your physician prescribes a drug for "treatment," ask him or her what known side-effects exist. If he or she downplays any risk, ask yourself this question... Is playing Russian roulette with drugs worth risking your life? It can and does happen...106,000 deaths every year!!
